A massive explosion happened in Beirut on Tuesday (August 4), causing immense damage and destruction, killing at least 137 people and wounding 5000. The landscape remains apocalyptic: containers that look like twisted cans, burnt cars, paper-covered streets and debris from office buildings scattered across the blasts.

The SGroup European Universities' Network wants to express solidarity with this event. It is with sorrow and worry that our thoughts go to the heart of the Lebanese people and to its academic communities.
