SGROUP NETWORK FOR REFUGEES

The SGroup Network launches a dedicated section to share good practices in tackling the refugee crisis by higher education institutions. We are also going to present the European Commission's intiatives designed to offer assistance to asylum seekers in Europe. 

In order to enhance the collaboration among its members, the SGroup Network has taken up the following activities:

- promotion of the Scholars at Risk network dedicated to promoting academic freedom around the world, for example by giving sanctuary to scholars who are unable to work in their home countries. Scholars at Risk is an international network of about 380 higher education institutions in 38 countries

- collection and sharing good practices from its members about practices developed by HEIs for integrate the refugees in academic community available below;

- together with other university networks SGroup responded to the consultation of the European Commission on best practices in higher edutation to address challenges related to the refugees. The overview of the practices organised by categories are accessible in the documents listed below;

- SGroup follows up the developements of the EU policies related to the asylum seekers; below you can find the last Communication on the prevention of radicalisation leading to violent extremism;

- creation of a pool of experts and contact persons dealing with refugees at member universities for consultations and exchange of practices in the refugee crisis;

- collaboration with other university networks for experience sharing; e.g. joing session during the EAIE Conference in Liverpool on How university networks responded to the refugee crisis;

- joint collaboration with its members to respond to the EC's calls for proposals for projects supporting the refugee related measures in higher eduation.
