2022 started off as a year of new beginnings for the SGroup team, which welcomed a new staff member and a new Operations Manager. 

In February, we welcomed Sofia Abreu as our new Administrative Officer (which is the new job title for the previous role of Executive Secretary). Sofia is a young woman from Portugal with an extensive background in Civil Society Cooperation as a volunteer, and she is completing a Masters in Management. As part of SGroup’s Secretariat, she will work closely with Joana Freitas, SGroup Projects Manager, in the administration and internal management of SGroup.

Additionally, since January, SGroup has a new Operations Manager i.e. Bárbara Costa (University of Porto). A familiar name to many in our network, Bárbara has been in the SGroup family for a long time, and has provided important contributions to the group during her mandates in the Executive Committee, as well as a member of different working groups and the coordinator for the Think Tank Academy chapter for Latin America.  We all welcome her and wish her lots of success in this new position. 

The former Operations Manager, Valère Meus, whose commitment and contribution to SGroup has been invaluable for many years, leading our network to success through his work and dedication, will continue working closely with the SGroup, now in the role of Advisor.
