Opportunities for Engagement
Introduction
SGroup is a sustainable network of excellent research universities in Europe and beyond. It operates on the basis of trusted relations built over decades of collaboration, utilising its wealth of expertise and experience for the benefit of its members.
Through the Think Tank Academy, which is part of the SGroup Development Strategy, SGroup, aims to strengthen the institutional capacity, innovation potential, and international engagement of member universities (full and associate) by fostering collaboration, mobility, project development and knowledge exchange.
SGroup strategic pathways for engagement:
- International Cooperation — to scale transnational and intercontinental partnerships and develop joint projects among members and with partners from beyond the network.
- Academic Quality, Autonomy & Governance — to work with emerging EU frameworks, protect academic freedom and modernise HEIs’ governance.
- Green & Digital Transformation — to accelerate systemic digital transformation of HE ecosystems, institutions as well as staff/student competences for an AI-shaped future.
- Research-Education-Society Nexus & Skills — to support the development of stronger joint collaboration pathways in (doctoral) research, education and training and promote a sound societal engagement and impact.
- Resilience & Funding — to diversify funding sources for sustainability, namely through EU, but also national or/and bi-national instruments and programmes, and projects and adjust to the new geopolitical realities that impact higher education worldwide.
Through a diverse portfolio of initiatives, that foster leadership dialogue, staff professional development, student mobility, support to young researchers, and strategic project management, SGroup is a driver for excellence, inclusivity, and sustainability in higher education.
SGroup’s ultimate goal is to empower institutions and individuals within the SGroup network to address the most challenging and common matters that affect the higher education landscape, in Europe and beyond. Engaging in SGroup activities means to design and co-create solutions, share expertise, and drive transformative impact across academic, professional, cultural and geographic boundaries. Thus, SGroup’s activities for members enable institutions as well as individuals to complement and enhance their profiles as HEIs on one hand and as professionals on the other.
