University of Cyprus Launches New International Bachelor in Urban Sustainability Studies Through the YUFE Alliance

The University of Cyprus (UCY) has announced the launch of a new English-taught undergraduate programme, the Bachelor in Urban Sustainability Studies, offered within the framework of the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) Alliance.

Designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges of our time, this innovative programme combines interdisciplinary learning with international mobility, preparing graduates to contribute to sustainable urban development, environmental transition, and societal transformation across Europe and beyond.

A Future-Focused European Degree

The Bachelor in Urban Sustainability Studies offers a flexible and personalised academic pathway that enables students to gain international experience while studying at leading European universities within the YUFE Alliance. Delivered entirely in English, the programme is tailored to meet the needs of an increasingly global student community.

Students will explore key themes including:

  • Urban sustainability and innovation
  • Environmental and regional development challenges
  • Societal impact and community engagement
  • European cooperation and interdisciplinary education

Programme Structure

The three-year programme combines foundational learning, international mobility, and applied research:

Year 1 – University of Cyprus
Students begin their studies at UCY, building a strong academic foundation in sustainability-related disciplines.

Year 2 – International Mobility Across Europe
Students have the opportunity to study at YUFE partner universities, specialising in areas aligned with their academic interests while experiencing diverse European cultures and educational environments.

Year 3 – Dissertation and Applied Research
The final year focuses on an independent dissertation project, allowing students to engage in impact-oriented research addressing real-world sustainability challenges.

International Learning Experience

As a member of the YUFE Alliance, the University of Cyprus continues to strengthen its commitment to international collaboration and innovative education.   • Non-European Economic Area (EEA) applicants: 14 June 2026
  • European Economic Area (EEA) applicants: 20 July 2026
