2,3-butanediol production from agroindustrial residues

Brief description of the activities to be carried out
2,3-butanediol is valuable chemical feedstock due to its industrial applications. The activity proposes the biological conversion of renewable carbon sources as fruit and vegetable wastes (FVW) with aerobic bacteria (Bacillus strains). Different strategies of saccharification and fermentation, such as SHF and SSF will be tested and operating parameters like aeration, substrate concentration (solid load), etc will be optimized.
