Brief description of the activities to be carried out
The proposed project is intended to develop a useful and robust alarm generation system that effectively processes the data recorded by the monitoring system of a structure. Its main objective is to detect damage as soon as it occurs in order to avoid high-cost late maintenance works, or even its collapse. Although it is mainly focused on slender structures (i.e., those with a dynamic response dictated by low frequencies with significant movements than can be accurately measured and registered by means of low-cost sensors and dataloggers), and the main algorithms of the project will be developed for them, the methodology can be extrapolated and adapted to all types of relevant structures. It is, then, of high interest for infrastructure management teams, as it will help them during the decision-making process based on the registered data. If deficiencies are identified, reported and repaired thanks to the works being carried out during early damage states, the lifespan of the infrastructure can be notably widened, which has a direct impact on their safety and sustainability.
