The European Commission has just selected 50 Masters Courses under the UE's Erasmus Mundus programme for stronger European co-operation and international ties in higher education. In the academic year 2010/2011, 116 Masters Courses offer Erasmus Mundus scholarships to top-ranked students from "third countries" and to "scholars" to teach or carry out research. The Commission has also selected 13 Joint Doctorates, which is a new element within the second phase of Erasmus Mundus launched this year. Altogether, the new courses involved 296 universities from Europe and 70 partner universities from around the world covering disciplines in natural sciences, life sciences and humanities.
