The 11th of July 2022 marked the beginning of this year’s edition of the SGroup Summer School hosted for the first time by the University of Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. Under the motto “A Glance into Peace and Conflict through the Arts”, over four weeks, a diverse group of students from SGroup member universities (you can see part of the cohort in the picture below) will share a unique interdisciplinary learning experience in the fields of arts and peace studies.
During the month, participants will be introduced to Colombia’s 20th century history, the period known as The Violence, and the signing of the Peace process in 2016 in relation with politics, media, population, memory and arts, while at the same time developing language skills in Spanish.
The course has an active and participative approach, combining keynote presentations with open spaces for debate and discussion, as well as cultural visits. Field trips will seek to promote applied learning and group discussions based on conversations between students and experts., such as the visit to Museo del Oro which you can see below.
The students will also attend conferences about Social Sciences in Colombia and Latin America with practical workshops where the participants should contribute ideas, knowledge and observations related to their knowledge and impressions throughout their visit.
SGroup wishes all the participants, staff and lecturers a successful intercultural learning experience!
