The Campus of International Excellence for Southern Catalonia (CEICS) has been one of the projects selected in the government's 2010 call and it will be endowed with three million euros to carry out the project. The proposal was led by the URV but it is based on the strategic cluster of the university, research institutes, research centres, technology parks, the welfare sector, companies and administrations, all of which make up the Southern Catalonia Knowledge Hub, an association that consists of 25 development institutions and 57 partner institutions.
Fostering international relations and creating leading doctoral schools in the fields of chemistry, prehistory and archaeology are two of the main projects that will be undertaken in the near future. The project is based on the high levels of quality that have been attained in teaching, research and transfer in five specialities: Chemistry and Energy, Nutrition and Health, Heritage and Culture, Tourism and Oenology. The clustering of the region's research and transfer structures reinforces the project, which aims to become a leading international point of reference and a hub for attracting the talent that will improve its projection and the quality of the research.
The project has been endowed with four million euros by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation to develop the area of molecular biology and the omic sciences.
